Grupo Mayan Resorts: Water Sports for Kids
April 6th, 2009
For the thousands of guests that graced the shores near our Grupo Mayan resort, their experiences with the various water sports activities are some of the most memorable moments they have. Families, couples, friends and even individuals go for these activities at every opportunity they can have, learning new water sports or mastering old ones.
Even kids are not left out here in Grupo Mayan resorts. Kids enjoy being in the water as much as adults do, maybe even more, and would love to engage in various water sports activities where they can join. These water sports can be adventurous and fun-filled; however, safety should still be given top priority as in any other activities involving children. Kids should always wear life jackets, and this should be a compulsory requirement whether they know how to swim or not.
As part of the safety requirements, particularly of there are children involved, boats and rafts should always have extra life jackets, whistles and lifebuoys. Part of Grupo Mayan resortsí commitment to safety is the availability of competent lifeguards watching over our guests. They know what to do during emergencies and are highly qualified to perform first aid.
The following are some additional tips and information that our Grupo Mayan staff are recommending on how children and parents can maximize their vacation and enjoy all the benefits that they can get from water sports.
- Water sports for kids should only be done when the weather is pleasant. A rainy or excessively windy weather may not be safe for water sports. On the other hand, if the weather is sunny, remember to apply a good sunscreen or the children will suffer sleepless nights dealing with sunburn.
- There are different water sports for kids, which can be classified as pleasurable, adventurous or exciting according to our Grupo Mayan staff. Pleasure sports include boating, canoeing or snorkeling. Choices that are more adventurous include sailing, scuba diving or surfing. However, always follow safety precautions when engaged in these sports and always have an adult to watch over you.
- Swimming is the most basic and enjoyable experience when in the sea as beautiful as the ones we have here in Grupo Mayan resorts. Beginners should stay away from deep areas and always wear safety gear. Swimming at sea required kids to wear goggles, ear lugs, and a swimming cap as a minimum. Kids should also refrain from swimming right after they have had a sumptuous meal prepared by our Grupo Mayan. Let your body digest the food first before heading out to sea.
- Other fun water sports for kids include water basketball or water volleyball, which can be fun and exciting. The whole family can enjoy or you can invite other kids to join your game.
- More mature kids and teenagers can try their skill on wakeboarding or windsurfing. They can get very exciting moments with these sports.
