Grupo Mayan Resorts: Surfing
May 27th, 2009
Surfing is a water surface sport in which is person is carried along down the breaking ocean wave better known as the surf, while standing on a surfboard. Grupo Mayan Mexican resorts offer two types of surfing for our guests. Those include short boarding and long boarding. Grupo Mayan surf experts say that everything depends on the wave size and the wind conditions.
Grupo Mayan experts educate our surfers before we allow them to venture off into the ocean on their own. A swell is when the wind is blowing consistently over open water. The swell is determined by how strong the wind is blowing. The Pacific Ocean tends to have larger and more prevalent swells because of the large expanse of the ocean.
There has always been a quest for the perfect wave to ride says Grupo Mayan surf professionals. This has given rise and even more tourism based business to our Mexican resorts due to being located along the Pacific coastline. These swells arrive in what are known as pulses, which can last several days giving these surfers the need for a place to stay. Grupo Mayan resorts are the perfect place.
Some of the jargon used by the surfers at the Grupo Mayan surf experts:
- regular foot- right foot on the back of the board
- goofy foot- the left foot on the back of the board
- take off- starting the ride
- drop in- standing up in the wave
- snaking- taking off on a wave in front of someone
- duck dive- pushing the board underwater
- back-paddling- stealing a wave
- pop-up- from lying on the board to standing in just one jump
- bottom turn- first turn at the bottom of the way
- shoulder- is the unbroken part of the wave
- pump- generating speed among the wave
- stall- slowing down
Grupo Mayan Mexican resort is a very popular surfing destination. We offer surf schools, surfing lessons, and surf camps. Surf camps are for beginners and will teach the basic fundamentals to all newbies. Our Grupo Mayan surfing instruction is performed in a one-on-one lesson but can be done is a group setting. There is plenty of room to practice, which is definitely a big plus when it comes to learning how to surf.
Surfing, just like all other water sports has the inherent danger of drowning. If a surfer cannot handle the water without the board, than they have no business going in with the board.
